The Life and Shenanigans of Courtney Birst

A Simple Equation

Last night, over dinner, Bachelor #2 and I stumbled upon that ever-deep conversation that is usually discussed very carefully after several bottles glasses of wine. We, on the other hand, decided to tackle it while working on our second drink.

What exactly am I referring to you ask? Well I’ll give you a hint: it starts with an “s” and ends with an “x” and it’s not sax, six, sox, or sux. Yes, dear readers, we talked about sex.

Now make no mistake, sex is wonderful. And fun. And delicious. But when you’ve just started dating it’s not something to enter into lightly. Because when you add sex to the mix, you go from dating to dating. And we all know that subtle little difference often isn’t so subtle. Sex takes a relationship to a new level, and so it’s one to be carefully considered. Especially if you like the person and don’t want to rush things, as is the case with Bachelor #2.

So there we sat, wine glasses in hand, talking this over. Luckily we were at a restaurant that had white paper covering the tables and crayons for the patrons’ doodling pleasure. As we stumbled into this conversation we decided there had to be some sort of equation that would allow us to know when we were ready to make that leap into wanton pleasure. And given his background in organic chemistry and my background in business, we were certain we could figure it out.

After much doodling I came up with the equation that explained it clearly and turning to him I asked him politely to solve it. And he did. Here it is dear readers, this is when it’s okay to proceed forward, when you solve for “x”:
